New home Card.

A couple of weeks ago I posted a similar version of this card except the girl was a boy. I wondered at the time If I could change the boy into  a girl  by giving him more hair. I wanted a girl as I wanted to send it to  my sister as she's just moved house. So I played around with the image and with a fine marker, I drew in long hair, it seemed to have worked quite well.

 

A mish mash of makes.

Not a very exciting collection of makes today, I think I  have the crafters equivalent of writers block.

 The best way I have found to combat that problem is to make a few boring ones and hope something will eventually click and I 'll come up with something half decent.

I have owned this dog stamp for  many years. It was one of the first stamps I bought when I first started card making. I was never happy with the products available for colouring in those days, so this stamp got stored away  for about 20 years.  This week I sorted through that drawer of stamps and decided to try him out with some DSP.

Over the years I have collected a tonne of patterned paper that needs using  so I thought I'd start making cards with more pretty papers in them.

Rather than die cut the image and stick it  on the background paper, I cut a circle in the DSP and adhered the image behind the aperture.  I added a layer of red card before gluing it onto the 81/4 x 4inch white base card.

The image on the DL size card is from LOTV .   I cut two oval apertures in the background paper and adhered the image and sentiment behind the apertures. 

I cut a square aperture in this 5x5inch sheet of DSP and again,  glued the image behind the aperture. I felt the image needed an extra frame, but as I had already glued the DSP to the image, the only way I was going to get a black frame around the image was to use black peel off strips. which is exactly what I did. I added a layer of black underneath before sticking it to a  6x6 inch white base card.

This image is from a new stamp set from stampin' up and is called Treasures of life. I have to say this is not my favourite stamp in the set.

Last card for this post. This is another LOTV  digital image called big parcel. This is a 7x5 inch card so this is quite a large image. I prefer LOTV images in a smaller format, but I printed out a load of images at the wrong size and it seemed a shame to discard them.

To kick start my mojo

                              

I haven't posted anything for a few weeks due to me misplacing my mojo over the Christmas period.       I really haven't felt like crafting for a few weeks now.  Today I forced myself into my craft room to try  and make a couple of simple cards with the hope that somewhere along the way, I would find some inspiration.  I have used this LOTV digital stamp above on a couple of smaller cards. This time I enlarged the image to make this   7 x 7 inch card.  I mounted the image onto a piece of navy card before adhering the panel to the polka dot background and base card. The sentiment comes from the S.U set,  Sorry for Everything. I think this would be a great card to thank medical staff as well as a  great get well card.

My second make is another LOTV digital stamp and the card measures 5 x 5 inches.    LOTV had a 50% off  weekend and I couldn't resist buying this image (along with a dozen more). This time I die cut a stitched frame using two square dies and glued the frame over the top of my coloured image and then adhered the framed image onto a white base card. I added a small bow  for some extra interest.

 

My third make is using another digital stamp from LOTV.  This time  I cut an oval aperture  in apiece of red card  to frame the image. Then cut a larger oval aperture in a piece of white card slightly smaller than the card front.

My fourth make is yet another LOTV image. This one was made in the same way as the one above, but I reversed the colours of the aperture layers just to change things up a bit. 

All the images were coloured with Copic markers. 

You may notice that I haven't put sentiments on all of today's makes. This is because I like to decide on a sentiment once I know who the card is for and what the occasion  is.

These quick and simple cards  have kick started my mojo and I am ready to start crafting and posting again.

Clean and Simple cards for Christmas.

I have left this years making of Christmas cards to the last minute, so these are clean and simple cards.

I visited the LOTV  digital stamp shop last week and came across some new really cute images and what's more they were discounted so time to increase my stock of LOTV images.

 I wanted a few new Christmas images for this years cards to ensure this years recipients didn't get the same image a last year.

The Santa image above does NOT have  number plate on the digital stamp. I added the number plate to personalize the card.

 I found this image touching and personal, probably because I have worked in a school for 26 years and have  had a great deal to do with school plays over the years. Making the costumes, painting scenery and making props. So this image was a must have.

This image was just too cute  not to purchase.

Infants Cards

I have a couple of baby cards today. Both images are digital stamps available from  the LOTV website. The card above was coloured with Copic markers . I used double stitched square dies to create the frame for this card. It's a clean and simple card and I like the way this one turned out.

I am not so keen on the rocking card below though.  I loved the twins image but I think the colours I used here maybe a touch to strong. I thought  I would decorate  the rolling section with leaves to tie in with the pea shoot. I don't think this worked very well at all . I will have to re think this one.

New home cards.

I don't get to make  new home cards too often, but I needed one a while back. I found this stamp  in the drawer.  I can't remember the maker of this stamp. I think it might be a  Whiff of joy stamp but I wouldn't swear to that. I have coloured this image a few time in the past but I was never happy with my colouring.  I think my choice of colours have been too strong in the past, so this time  I chose less intense colours and I think it works much better than my previous attempts.  

 My second card is an LOTV digital stamp.  I love  the cuteness of their images. This was the card I sent out as it was going to our nephew and his partner.   Both cards were coloured using Copic markers.  I hot foiled the sentiment I had printed out using the pc and a laser printer.

LOTV Digistamps.

I have been working with my  LOTV Digi stamps the last couple of days. 

I have really enjoyed re-acquainting myself with them . I  tend to go through fits and starts with stamps.  I'll work with a certain type/brand,  until I get bored  and then I'll move onto another type or brand for variety.

So I have a feeling my next few posts will all be using LOTV digital stamps.

LOTV Christmas Card

 I love this LOTV stamp of the little lad posting his very long wish list to Santa.

 I do tend to use it every year, but I try to change the colour scheme each time I use it. I used Copic markers to colour the image then with a white gel pen  I added the white snowflakes.

Romantic lacy edge card

This LOTV  image is so sweet. it could be used for an anniversary card Valentines card or even an engagement card. I haven't added a sentiment to this card yet as I don't know who will receive it yet.
This card was really  about making a lace frame from lacy  border die cuts and having the lace point inwards and on top of the image, rather  than the usual lace edged matt. I think this works well.

Dear Friend

Another LOTV image for this card. combined with a gorgeous embossed background.  The embossing folder I used  retired quite a few years ago.

I don't know, why I don't use this folder more often, it's a lovely design. 

      The only thing that irritates me about this card is the  "dear" doesn't start with a capital letter.

Anniversary card

I'd been working on a display at work, when I had an idea to mount some photos on  film strips.   I needed to make some negatives quickly and easily. 

None of my dies or punches were suitable, then I remembered my Cinch  machine......turned out it was perfect for the job. I used a left over piece to to mount this sweet image on.
