Baby Shower Card

This baby shower was intended for a family member next week. It was standing on the wall unit when we got an unexpected visited from the mum to be. So I have decided to make a different one now. As she's seen this one it's safe to post this.

Here is how I made the umbrella.

I began with a  3 !/4 inch die cut circle.

Cut the circle in half and the fold one section in half to find the centre.

I used the small oval punch from S.U but this could be done with a small oval die.

Position the semi circle in the punch so the fold line is in the centre of the punch and squeeze.

Then position the punch at each end of the semi circle and snip off each end making sure you take off the same amount at each side.

This is your template.

Place the template over the other half of the circle and lightly draw along the scalloped edge.

Using the fold line on the template as your guide, make a small mark the top of the umbrella to show the centre on the real.

Punch along the edge of the second semi circle following the lines.

Using the template, line up the edge with mark at the top and the first scallop and draw a line following the template edge.

Like so...

Spin the template round and repeat on the other side.

Here I used a rubber stamp to stamp in the tip of the umbrella, but this could be drawn in.

Take a rule and lightly draw in the  length of the handle you want.

Very lightly sketch in the curve of the handle. ( so you can rub these line out)
When you're happy with the shape of the handle, draw over the outline with a stamp and write marker or  a fine line marker.

Wait for your marker lines to dry....

Then rub out your pencil lines.
Colour the sections of your umbrella and the handle.

Stamp some  raindrops  or a shower of  tiny hearts in the background using Versamark ink as a watermark or add clear embossing powder  to the Versamark ink and heat emboss for shiny raindrops.
Add a bow to the handle, stamp a sentiment and mount onto layers of pink and blue card before mounting onto a white base card.
