Background technique using baby wipes

Here is a technique I discovered during Lockdown.  I came across a video by Jennifer McGuire  demonstrating this very simple and quick technique. This technique is great for backgrounds for sentiment stamps..
I was so chuffed when I came across Jennifers video, as it meant I could dig out all those unused brass stencils I have had stuck in a drawer for many, many years,

I started off by  inking up a piece of card stock. (You want it heavily inked.)
Next step lay the stencil on top of the inked card.
Lay a baby wipe over the top of the stencil and card.
Run the sandwich through a die cutting machine using the embossing mat instead of one of the cutting plates. You  need to run it back and forth through the machine slowly   3-4  times,  unless your baby wipe is really wet. I found 2 passes through the machine was all it needed and very wet wipes can cause puddles and remove more ink than you want.

This was such a quick and simple technique, I had to try it again.

Jennifer  recommended using distress inks for this technique. I only own 2 distress ink pads.... blue and brown. So I tried it with a Distress Oxide pad ,  my blue Distress ink pad  and a Stampin' up  classic ink pad. You can see the results for yourself in the photo below.
Perhaps purple was the wrong colour to try  as it turned pink.  But  it maybe that using less intense or primary colours would work better than the purple. But that's for another day.
That's all folks!!
