Simple Easter Egg Basket

Well, Easter is almost upon us again, so time to break out the Easter baskets. Here is a nice simple basket to make, and it holds six eggs  of the same size as  those vile cream eggs.

All you need is one piece of double sided card or  robust paper,  6 x 6 inches. One strip  of  coordinating card 1/2 inch by  about 8 1/4 inches long, for the handle.
Score the 6 inch square card at 2" and 4" inches one side. Then turn the paper 90 degrees and
score at 2" and 4"  inches.

Cut up to the score lines on opposite sides  as in the photo above.

Attach one end of the  handle to the middle  of the centre square.

Gently curve the handle with a bone folder by placing the strip of card between the bone folder and your thumb tightly  and draw the card through.  Glue the other end of the handle in position on the opposite side.

Bring one of the outer squares in towards the handle. Line up the outer most corner of the square with the side of the handle and glue in place. Line up the second panel  with the other side of the handle and glue in place. See photo below.
Repeat  these two steps on the other side and your basket is complete

You could  leave the basket like this if you have used a pretty paper...or you add spring flowers or a bow at each end of the handle to dress it up a little more.

Now this basket may look small but I can tell you  it's like the Tardis,  all seven of these eggs fit in this basket with room to spare.

I would suggest putting some shredded tissue paper in the bottom of the basket to partially fill it if you don't want to put in this  many eggs .

DSP Candles

I can't take the credit for the design of this card. I CASE'd it from Karen Johnson's blog.

I think Karen used a stamp for the sentiment on her card. I didn't have a sentiment stamp suitable for this design so I created this  very similar greeting on the PC, printed off and die cut it.

The candles are just strips of Stampin' Up's DSP and the flames are the wings from the bird and branch punch.

This card should arrive tomorrow, I do hope he likes it.

Easter Egg Shaped Card

I don't usually  make Easter cards but I have a set of egg dies for a very long time and not used them. So I thought I would have a go.

It's not a particularly exciting card but I thought, I would share the making of this card.

I have seen egg shaped cards made  by folding a sheet of card stock in half and  placing the fold of the card  over the die , slightly short of the edge of  the die to create the hinge, perfect for the first step to an egg shaped card.   but this  leaves the egg with one straight side, which looks a little odd.
As you can see from the photo below .  It doesn't matter how beautifully the egg is decorated  if it has a straight edge it's not going to look right.

However, this can easily be rectified by cutting another egg shape and adhering it on the front of the hinged card.  as in the photo above.
This not only hides the hides the hinge it  restores the egg to it's proper shape.

Then the egg can be decorated in anyway you like. I chose to decorate my egg in  Stampin' Up's DSP polka dot papers in spring colours.

Embossed Pram Baby Card

I seem to have lost my mojo lately and Hubby needed a  baby card for tomorrow.

Rather than let him down I dug out a card I made about 10 years ago and re-made it in different colours.

The overall size of this card is 8" X 8" so it is quite large but as there are going to be a few people signing it,  it needs to be a little bigger than usual.

The wheels I made by punching out a large daisy in silver card twice and sticking the flowers onto a punched circle that is slightly smaller than the daisy. Note..   I punched the circles from the same cardstock I used for the background.
Then trimming off the tips of the petals to the edge of the circle.

I punched two more silver circles larger still and adhered the smaller inner wheel on top.
The flowers were made using a smaller daisy punch  inking the tips of the petals and the sticking on on top of another and adding a small blue gem stone.

The background paper is from the Subtles DSP stack from Stampin up,  the colour I used  is soft sky.
The heart lace  was made using a Martha Stewart Border Punch.

The pram I cut from  white pearlized card and embossed.

Here's hope my mojo comes back soon...... need to be making new stuff, not going backwards in time.

Baby Mobile

This project has caused me no end of problems this evening just trying to photograph it.
Low light conditions in doors caused all the photos to come out yellow or green and using flash created so many shadows they distracted from the mobile.
I had to resort to taking it out into the garden and photographing it outside,
but by time I decided to take it outside the light was fading there too.

The true colour of this should be Stampin' up's Pool Party.
I used all the patterns the DSP  stack in Pool Party along with the silver glimmer paper. Unfortunately this does not show up very well in this photo.
The Moons and Stars were punched out  of each paper/card using S.U punches and then glued  back to back sandwiching the silver thread through the centre line on each star/moon.
The top of the mobile was created by cutting 5  of the petal cone favour boxes and gluing them together to form a circle.
I cut triangles  slightly smaller than the triangles of the petal cone die in the polka dot DSP  and glued them  round the inside edge of the mobile top.
I  threaded a loop of wire through the centre  for hanging.
Then set about sticking the strings a of stars and moons to the outer edge of the top and two strings from the centre.

Hopefully  I have managed to upload this small video clip of the mobile in motion.

Success at last . I have managed to get a clearer picture for you

Jessica s card

I received a text last night from a friend and colleague asking me to make a card for a one year old. She needed it for this afternoon.
We were out visiting our son and his partner and didn't get home until midnight. But as soon as I got home I was in the craft room making this card. I think I got to bed around 3.00 am but don't tell hubby. he thinks it was much earlier.
It's not typical baby colours but I think it works.
I took the picture from Joanna Sheens baby love CD there are some gorgeous images on this cd along with backing paper that co-ordinate with the toppers. I used stampin' up s dsp for this card.
Allison collected this card this afternoon and said "my God! the picture actually looks like the baby it was intended for" How funny is that.
