Cambridge Carols again.

A few days ago I posted a card using  this stamp  from the Cambridge Carols  on  the Demonstrator Facebook page.   Another Demo left comment on how she loved it done in black and white.

I was a little confused at first as the card was the navy and white card in post below this one.
It turned out that she was looking at the post on her phone and it did look black and white on the small screen.  Her comment gave me the idea of colouring the image in black an white...well that's not strictly true. I used lot of shades of grey, (not quite 50 shades  of  grey though,   ( lol.)

The result isn't as bad as I thought it would be.
I wanted to keep the whole card black and white but I wasn't keen any on any of  my black and white papers , so I decided to add colour to make the card a little more cheerful.
I die cut some sprigs of berries from red and white card. The looked too flat and dull for my likings.
The red berries  I pressed them into a Versmark ink pad and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder.
The white berries I covered with glue using the two way glue pen and dusted them with  ultra fine white glitter for a frosty appearance.

I  die cut some pine needles and arranged the branches and berries in a variety of ways before settling on this arrangement. I'm not entirely happy with this arrange and can't help feeling it needs something else, but I am not too sure what to add. Maybe a small  pine cone or two?

Brightly Coloured Cotton Reels

I have to say this card required a lot masking and a lot of colouring. I have to be in the "mood" for lots of colouring and today I wasn't so my colouring is not brilliant in places. But all in all I enjoyed playing.

I used four or five cotton reel masks and just kept stamping until I had covered the entire piece of card.

Actually it does require a little bit of thought. I wanted the reels going in different directions. and different parts of each reel showing and overlapping in different places.

I started by stamping the Reels that appear to be on the top then masking them off and stamping the reels below. I then set about colouring them with my Stamp and write pens.

Once all the reels were coloured in, I filled in all the remaining white gaps in design with a black pen. This was when I found out my black pen had gone fluffy at the end making colouring in the small spaces very difficult.

I have to confess my colouring was so diabolical in places I had to stamp a couple more reels coloured them cut them out and stuck them on top of the bodged reels.

The words inside for this card will say "Sew Much" not very original but appropriate.

Hot Air Balloon Card

This hot air balloon was made using the heart punch from S.U. I punched out 5 hearts folded them in half and glued them together . On reflection I think 7 or 8 hearts would have have been better.

The background was created with sponge daubers , torn paper bashful blue, pear pizzazz and old inks. The mini trees on the hills were stamped using the little leaf stamp from the vintage vogue stamp set.

The conifer stamp is one I have owned for years from another company. The pine needles in top corner was one I bought second hand on Ebay from a lady in Canada, I believe.

Three to share today.

Today I have been sat at home with big box of tissues and a large portion of self pity.It seems I have contracted a stinking cold and don't seem to be functioning properly, everything I touch or go near seems to turns to dust or falls over, so I have given up on the day, I am just going to share three cards with you then I am off to bed. Hopefully I won't blow up the computer before I get there.

The first card I want to share with you was made for me by my friend Sharon for Christmas.

It is gorgeous and it took pride of place in my lounge over the festive season. I love it. Thank You Sharon.

Sharon has used the Vintage wallpaper embossing folder from S.U, the Welcome Christmas and lovely as a tree stamp set.

The second card I want to share is this one using the pattern piece stamp and another sewing themed stamp set from SU, which has been discontinued, so I guess it doesn't matter that I can't remember what it's called.

I love these stamp sets, but not many people I know sew, so they won't get used very often.

I stamped the pattern pieces stamp onto tissue paper twice and stuck one onto some patterned paper and cut out some of the pieces.

The second, I stuck onto some white card and trimmed round the edges and mounted onto melon mambo card before layering everything up and sticking down.

And Finally,... as they say on the NEWS programmes my last card for today is using the pattern pieces stamp and the same set I can't remember the name of.

I used Cherry Cobbler card for the base and a small piece of yellow polka dot paper scrap of red, black and white card plus a small red button to finish.

Hope you like them.

Medallion stamp card

This is a card using the medallion stamp choc chip and bashful blue ink.
I used a strip of designer paper to make the fan wheel.
I saw this card on another demonstrators web site and thought it was fab and had to have a go.

Jody's card

This card I made for a friends daughter  who is in hospital seriously ill at the moment.
For the polka dot background of this card, I used an embossing folder and embossed the polka dots into the card.  Using some bright pink ink and a brayer I covered the  debossed side of the card with ink. As you can see this technique leaves the debossed polka dots white.
I then stamped the image of the girl and coloured her in using  my copic markers. I punched  some flowers using the 3 in 1 flower punch from S.U. daubed the edges, and shaped the flowers with a ball tool and added some sparkles.
Hope it's bright enough to cheer her up a little.
Get well soon Jody.

Bye Baby Bunting.....

This card was made using one of the new punches available next month when the new catalogue is launched.I had tested out my punch on several  pieces of scrap card and then thought what can I do with these without using too much of my good card stock. This is the result.
There is a stamp set I believe that goes with this punch. I don't own that, so I just stamped the word baby on my bunting.
It punches the scalloped and the straight edge pennant at the same time.

Jacks Watery Birthday Card.

This card was made for little Jack , who was 2 years old this week.
This was a fun card to make,
but dear old hubby couldn't believe I was going to put water into a card and was even more baffled as to why and how the water didn't leak out.
I do love to getting him guessing, Hee hee.
I used bashful blue card stock and designer paper.  The stampin' up sweet treat cups the splashes stamp from the French Foliage stamp set.
The tag was printed  and hot foiled.

baby blossom card

This card was made using the Baby Blossom Stamp set from S.U.  Pretty  in pink, and white card stock .I chose pretty in pink, old olive  and rose red ink pads. The lace strip was made using a Martha Stewart edge punch.      The card below is the same, I just changed the colours to pumpkin pie and so saffron.

Sharon's owl punch card

Here is a  lovely swap, again made by Sharon. I love the colours she has used and this owl is so cute.
Sharon has used the new polka dot embossing folder to emboss the very vanilla background and the scalloped circle big shot die to cut the pink card.
The owl is made using the new owl punch and a the scalloped circle punch for the wings.

Personalised 60th Wedding Anniversary Card

The card posted here was commissioned by a friend for her in-laws wedding anniversary.
She wanted something a little special as it is a special wedding anniversary.
This what I came up with after a lot of thought and planning.
I made the background paper by typing up the details of their wedding,  ie. place, date, names,  town. name of church. I then printed off two sheets and hot foiled  both sheets using gold toner foil.

Using a sponge dauber and S.U s crumb cake ink I daubed the edges for that vintage look.

I used my all time favourite stamp set from S.U  Baroque Motif  to stamp the  second of my background papers, again I used the sponge dauber to soften and age the edges infact I used this technique on each and every layer including the edge of the punched lace.
I printed off the wedding photo in several sizes and placed the frame over each of them to see which fitted best and cut the photo to fit the frame.
The frame is a metal frame by Tim Holtz. I love these frames and want to put them on everything from my cards to the furniture but that might be a tad expensive and look ridiculous.
I punched some fern leaves and daubed them with olive ink around the edges added a paper rose and a couple of leaves.

Using the baroque Motif stamp set again I stamped some tissue paper with the crumb cake ink and placed it in the box  as a wrap.
The box was made to fit the card and decorated with the second sheet of foiled background paper again daubed with ink and I added red roses.

DVD Case Notebook

Something a little different here.
I have called this a dvd case because it is the same size and type of case your dvd's come in.
But with one big difference, it doesn't have the molded section that houses the  dvd.
You'll  find  99% of dvd cases have a  back cover that has been molded to hold the dvd in place,  so your note pad will not lay flat.
This one however, does not have that molded panel,  so it is perfect for this project. Please don't do as I did and rush out and buy two packs of cases only to find they are no good for this project.
I used the  Vintage springtime doublesided paper/card from stampin' up,
Always artichoke and Very vanilla card stock.
Old olive ink,
Versamark ink, gold embossing powder and baroque motif stamp set from stampin' up  for the  flourishes. The flowers were stamped using versamark ink. I chose the large oval, the lace edge  and one of the label punches from S.U. to decorate.....oh and of course a little Rich razzleberry ribbon.

As I used double sided paper the inside was basically decorated for me.
I just had to add the pen and notebook.
Now hubby said just stick the note book  down with doublesided tape....... well,  makes perfect sense and that would be the easy Option.
But me being me had to do it differently, because I want my note pad holder to be used again and again without having to apply acres of new sticky tape each time the note book  ran out.
So  I placed a small cutting mat in between the thin outer cover of the case and the harder shell and cut a series of small slots through the shell, the cuts are just wide enough for the grossgrain to slide through. I taped the overlapping ends of the grosgrain together at the back quite tightly.  Then repleated the process for the pen holder.
Now I can just slide a new note book under grosgrain band and it's ready to go again.

Motorcycle Card

This card was inspired and almosted cased from another demonstrator. I loved the way she had swiped the ink over the cardstock and then just stamped over it. So simple, yet so effective. The colours used were  Stampin' up's old olive, pumpkin pie and marina mist with a hint of night of navy mixed in. I am loving this combination of colours. I would never of thought of putting blue with orange and green.

wedding wheels card

This one was a cased card but not sure where from. I have changed it a little. but not much.

Using the baroque motif stamp and crumb cake ink I stamped the background and mounted it onto my crumb cake card stock. I stamped the wedding wheels stamp in crumb cake too onto a small piece of whisper white card.

I used some of the new seam binding ribbon from S.U and pulled a few central thread from each end to gather it into a ruffle to give the impression of a garter and added a few tiny sparkles along the gathers.

here's a Baptism card made for a friend. I used one of the images from Joanna Sheene's CD Baby Love. and the matching backing paper.

The greeting was printed and then hot foiled in pink but it doesn't photograph very well. I foiled the verse and cross image on the inside in pink too.

Toilet roll book

This is a bit of an odd book really, because it is made out of toilet rolls..... YES I did say.... toilet rolls.
I took 6 empty toilet rolls punched a hole in one end with my crop a dile for the ring, you could do two holes and use two rings.
I then snipped out a semi circle using the 1" punch at the other end and painted them with black acrylic paint inside and out and allowed then to dry completely.

Then I flattened them by running them through the big shot to make sure they stayed flat.

Using the love letters paper from S.U I decorated each side of the flattened loo rolls.

Once all six were decorated I threaded them onto a large hinged ring.

I cut card into rectangles just big enough to slide into the centre of each toilet roll.
I then decorated each side with scraps of same love letter paper (there are quite alot of designs in this pack)
I punched the tabs and added them to

the top of each rectangle to make them look like tags
The cover is just the back of a note book cut to the same size as the toilet rolls and covered in the same range of paper.
I have still to finish decorating this book and then I will decide what I put in it.
