Plane and Simple

Okay! This is my last post with the plane and simple stamp set. If you've just arrived here then this will be the first Plane and simple card.


Some times customers fall in love with a stamp set, but then question how many times they would use it. I felt the same way about this stamp set and "I" come from two generations of RAF servicemen that all happen to be into motorbikes . So technically I shouldn't have had any reservations about buying this set at all . I guess, I doubted my own imagination rather than the stamp set. But after using it at our team training day, I rushed off to order it.So yesterday, I set myself a challenge to see how many cards I could make using the Plane & Simple Stamp set from S.U.'s new mini catalogue. I have to confess after completing a few cards I had run out of ideas, I had to seek ideas from other demonstrators.


Anyway this is a card we made on the training day, We started by stamping the plane and then screwing up the paper tightly. then we opened it our and using a sponge dauber we lightly daubed the mountains ( That's the peaks in the scrunched up paper, the dips are referred to as the valleys) with a soft suede ink. The background was stamped using the same colour ink and the sanded background stamp. Then it was over stamped with the birthday greeting in the plain and simple stamp set. It then was just a case of sticking all the layers together and adding the tiny bulldog clip from Stamp' Up's accessory range.


This card really appeals to me. Somehow this card makes me think of my late grandfather who served many years as engineer in the RAF, later in life, he worked at The Rolls Royce factory in Shrewsbury teaching engineering. I have am image of him in my head in his overalls holding a clipboard. I guess it's the vintage feel ,the clipboard effect and plane that make this card appeal to me.


I am now going to turn all these cards into a baggy book, just to prove to my customers that it's their imagination will determine how much use they get out of a stamp set and if they claim to have little or no imagination , there is always the Internet, a valuable source of ideas and inspiration.

Red plane and simple card

Wow!!! this was a hard card to photograph. Apologies for the photo quality but I have given up, If I had the energy and inclination I would go and dig out the studio lighting but all that effort for one card, I think not.

Black and white plane card

A simple black and white card using a strip of S.U.'s designer series paper from the neutrals collection and the plane from the plane and simple stamp set.
This stamp set is is from the mini catalogue that was launched earlier this month. Boy!!!! have I spent a fortune on stuff from the mini.

Okay, now I going to make you think I am a complete Idiot. This is a father's day card. I know the background says thank you, but I kind of forgot what sort of card I was making. But I have some very good excuses, and to cut a long story short it has been a very stressful day, that has left me with a stiff neck and a headache from the tension caused by various so called professional people that cannot do their jobs properly.Starting with the postman that delivered my mail this morning. Stupid man folds my mail to put it through the letter box. He has ruined the die cuts I bought and a really nice Easter card we were sent. I chased after him to complain, but he disappeared. I'll be waiting for him tomorrow. hee hee.

The day got worse as it went along as more incompetent people stressed me out. Here's hoping for better day tomorrow.

Anyway that's enough moaning, back to the card . I guess this one could say" Thanks for being my dad , " or "thanks for being the greatest Dad ever", so this is not a total disaster.

To create the corners I used a small circle punch and just snipped of the corners as evenly as I could.

Plane and Simple

Another card using the Plane from the plane and simple stamp set. You are going to be so bored by the end of todays blog entries. lol This one is Black and white, No camera or lighting tricks on this one.
I really don't think I need to explain or give in instructions it really is Plane and Simple.
Notice the polka dot back ground, I got my new embossing folder last night. The Greeting was stamped using with S.U's white craft ink onto black card.

Plane And Simple Birthday card

This is another card I love and have cased. It's not an exact replica of the original but fairly close.

I used cake crumb Vanilla and Soft Suede card stock and Early expresso ink for this one.

After stamping the images on the back ground I place the card in the new square lattice embossing folder from S.U and ran it through my Bigshot. That only arrived last night so I have enjoyed playing with it and getting to know it...... It could be my new best friend. lol

I distressed the edges of the plane image with the distressing tool from S.U. before mounting it onto very vanilla card and again on to soft suede card. Then stamped my greeting and cut it to form a flag attached it with a brad and assembled the layers.

This a card I have cased, I really like this one. Mind you I don't case cards I don't like. So If you are the original designer Well Done and thanks for sharing.
I used the plane and simple stamp set again this time with Vanilla, Early Expresso and Soft Suede card stock and Early expresso ink, all from stampin' up.

Another card using plane and simple

This is kind of a happy accident for me. Thought I would re-make the card we made on the training day. Just changing the colours.
I thought I had remembered exactly how we made it and went ahead without looking at the original. It seems I have mixed two cards together. After using the texture wheel stamp I stamped happy fathers day all over the background and just incase you missed that I stamped it on the twill too. Using bravo burgundy ink I stamped the images and distressed the edges with the distressing tool fro S.U then mounted them onto bravo burgundy card . I tor a strip of card for the top added the twill and assembled all my pieces to make this card.

Plane and Simple birthday card

This card is actually Navy and white but it looks black and white here and I rather like it in black and white.

This card was certainly simple to make and took all of five minutes to make. I chose to use the googles as they are a piece of equipment that is used by bikers, swimmers, Steam punk fans, and of course the flyers of small aircraft.

Not so Plane and Simple

Ok!!! I have had serious doubt about posting this one. I really don't like it at all. It is not my style and I did a dreadful job of cutting out the plane.


So this is a reluctant post. We used the Plane and Simple stamp set again. with coloured card shapes and twill.

Big shot Beautiful Butterflies

Another of yesterday's creations the butterfly was cut using the beautiful butterflies die and embossed using the perfect polka dots embossing folder. And the background was stamped using the border stamp from the Plane and Simple stamp set available from the new mini catalogue. This cards just proves this stamp set is not just for men.

A card using the plane and simple stamp set from SU. The lovely as a tree set gets another airing here. I personally would change the greeting on this one. But over all I love the idea. I was really tempted to have the plane crashing into the trees. LOL.

Plane and Simple

This is my second favourite card of the day. Using the plane and simple stamp set in the new mini catalogue. Oh! and I almost forgot the texture wheel from the main catalogue. I didn't rate this wheel, until yesterday that is. Umm, something else to add to my wish list.
