No, I have not gone mad and forgotten I have already posted this card.  I am posting it again because I have been asked for directions. So this post is about how I made it.

The  white base card is a tent fold card 5  7/8ths x 4 1/8 inches.
I don't recommend a side fold card because the card front is too heavy and tends to fall over easily.
You will also need a piece of white card suitable for stamping and colouring on. the same size as the card base....  5 7/8ths  x 4 1/8th of an inch.

                                          I cut a piece of yellow card 6 1/2 inches x 4 1/8 inches.

I cut the card in two at around the  2  3/4  of an inches mark.
With a scalloped edge punch I punched along a short side on each piece.

I scored  four lines across the card pieces. Two on each piece. The first one is at 1/2 an inch in from the scalloped edge on both pieces. I flipped the awning round and scored the third line 3/4 inch in on the straight edge. The fourth score line is 1 inch in from the scalloped edge.

I punched out 5 white  pieces  using  the word window punch.  Now at this point you have two choices you can trim off one of the rounded ends so that the end fits flush with the top score line of the awning, or you can leave them rounded. Adhere the white strips onto the awning lining the rounded                                                                    edges with the scallops.
Score the lines on the awning again and fold and burnish with a bone folder. Fold and burnish the score lines on the base to form the shelf.

On the white card lightly draw a line 3/4 of an inch down from the top.
Above this line will be where you adhere the top of the awning, so don't stamp above this line.

Use a stamp positioning tool to get the perfect positioning of the central cake stand.
stick a post it note across the card at the base of the central stand. Then stamp the cake stands either side but cutting off the base of the stand. So the cake stand now becomes a plate of cakes.

remove the post it and colour the cupcakes.  Adhere the awning and then the shelf base, lining up the fold with the bottom of the plates.
If you want to add a ribbon around the base, now would be the time to attach it So you can seal the ends of the ribbon between the base card and  panel.  Also add a sentiment.

Now you can adhere the panel to the base card. You may need to trim a little off                                          the bottom of the yellow shelf panel,  so do check size before adhering it to the base card.

Crazy for Cupcakes

I have spent most of last week cleaning and sorting my craft room. During my clean up I came across a bunch of old cards I made when I first signed up with Stampin' Up! One of the cards I found was a version of this card.   I was not happy with it. I think that was because I didn't like the colouring of the cakes. So decided to make it again and colour my cakes with Copic Markers rather than the dye based markers I used last time. I have to say I am much happier with the result this time round.
On the pink card I decided to change things up a bit by adding lacey borders to the shelf and
 the canopy.

Scalloped Easle Cards for Kids

I have really got into these scalloped edge easle cards , they're so easy when you know how to to create them. on this one I used one of the dinosaurs from the Dinoroar stamp set from stampin' up. This stamp set is just so cute. I love it.

For the next card I used a bunny from the new easter stampset from stampin'up called happy easter everybunny.  I punch a flower and glued it to the base of my card as a stopper to prevent thecard from sliding down.

This one is not quite finished but I thought I would give you some ideas of stamp sets that work with this design of card. I used the cupcake from  the crazy for cupcakes stamp set again from stampin' up.
I was asked to  make a princess card, Not having a princess stamp set I decided to draw my own, I then scannned her into the computer , so I can now print her off any size I like. I can also print her off using a laser printer so she can be hot foiled either before or after she has been coloured. This is a practise one as the little girl I am  doing this for loves pink. I will post that when it's finished.

Extreme Masking Tutorial

I have called this Technique Extreme Masking as I have never done so much masking on one project before.
It did take a little planning to get the effect of layers, so I thought I would share with you how I did this.
TIP: Use a good quality smooth white card stock like S.U s whisper white card, you don't want it fluffing up and looking like suede when you work with your markers.

I stamped the cotton reel evenly over the card.

I also stamped the cotton real onto scrap paper eight times and cut them out and put a spot of 2 way glue on the back of each cotton reel mask and allowed it to dry. I marked each mask with an M as it made it easier for me to see which images were masks and which where going to be the final product. The last thing I wanted to do was to accidentally stamp over an image on my card.

When the glue was dry I placed the masks over the stamped images at one end of my white card. I then began stamping between and over the masks the images I stamped first off.

Safe in the knowledge that the masks would protect them. I stamped more reels. As I stamped each new image I covered it with mask until I had filled the area with cotton reels.

Once the area was filled I began moving the masks from the completed end and sticking them over the

reels stamped in the area I was going to stamp next. I continued to do this until I had worked my way right across the sheet of card. When the card was covered with cotton reels I removed all the masks and began colouring the images.

TIP: store your masks in with your stamps that way you won't have to go throught the process of re stamping and cutting them out again.

I like to draw a line with my chosen colour around the inside of the cotton reels before I begin colouring, it helps me to stay within the lines. It also gives me a head start on the shading. Then I coloured them in using quick strokes using the brush end of the marker going across the reels following the lines of the thread. I do several before going back to do the shading to give the ink a chance to dry out as I don't want my card to start fluffing up.

Once dry I go back and draw downward strokes along the sides of the reels. I usually do this two or three times allowing the ink to dry in between. There are plenty more to colour while you are waiting for the ink to dry.

Be careful to get the colours in the right places , it's easy to get lost. Especially when it comes to filling in all the white spaces in between. You'll suddenly notice a few cotton reel tops you hadn't coloured and they may end up black if you are not careful.

If you love colouring try this it's more fun than colouring in scribble pictures. ha ha.

Alan's Birthday card 2011

Its now early Tuesday morning and it's hubby's birthday, I think I am safe in saying he is not going to visit my blog for a while now so I can post his card now.

Besides his lap top is broken and he won get his new one till I get home from work.

This card took me out of my comfort zone. I have never made a successful shutter card before and this one took 5 attempts. I eventually figured out one of the lines on my score board wasn't what I thought it was. So it wouldn't close.

I chose chocolate colours because he is a bigger chocaholic than me.

He loves my chocolate cupcakes, hence the crazy for cupcakes stamp. He's my little star and totally dotty about me....Well he better be. lol

Hope he likes this one. Happy Birthday Sweetie.

Cupcake card

Crazy for cupcakes were used to make this card. I love the pink and chocolate brown colour combination.

I 'm afraid I didn't do a very good job of colouring as this was a hurried demo card.

The gift bag was from a template on the Stampin'up website.
