I have been working on a 3D project today. mini tissue boxes. It took me a couple of attempts to the measurements right. But I got there in the end and it was so worth the effort to see hubby's face when he saw the completed box. He laughed and said "that's sooo cute". He said they'd be good taped to the dashboard with the new magic tape.
So I have prepared some instruction for making these. You'll need a piece of card 6 3/4 x 7 1/4 inches. Score down the long side at the measurements shown in the photo above.Turn the card around and score down the short side at the measurements in photo above .
Mark the panel where the hole is going to be and the sections you need to cut away. (Click on the photo above for a larger view.)
Make sure the hole panel and the flap are on the same section.
Cut 2 strips of pretty paper 3/4 of an inch wide by 3 7/8ths of an inch for the side panels. Then you'll need 2 more strips 3/4 of an inch wide by 1 3/4 inches long for the end panels. and one piece 1 3/4 inches wide by 3 7/8ths of an inch long and glue in the panels as in the photo above.
Remember when gluing the top panel, you're going to cut a hole in it and you will want to make sure the layers don't lift when the tissues are pulled out, so spread a little glue over the top where the hole will be.
Die cut the hole for the tissues to be pulled through. Unless you have a larger die cutting machine you will have to fold the closure flap over so it will fit through the machine without getting damaged . Fold the box on the score lines and add glue to the long flap and press the side together. Add glue to the short flaps to seal the end. Place the tissues in the box and close using the flap. Having this flap closure means the box can be refilled .
I have to say Hubby is right, these little boxes are really cute.
